Unbelief
I convinced myself you didn’t exist anymore
Denying the possibility
Relying on my ability to suppress the shameful truth
Shouldn’t a Christian be free of doubt
Shouldn’t I have all this
Figured out, worked out, thought out
washed every spot out of my unrenewed mind
I’ve got history being a radical guy
There’s no mystery buried inside of my soul
If I didn’t have faith, if I didn’t believe
What good would I be
What would you think of me, God
But here I am
Standing alone in the empty desert of my soul
No water, no wind, no fertile oasis
No shelter to hide in
God, what kind of place is this
I thought I’d find passion and zeal without end
But I’ve stumbled upon all my weakness instead
Barrenness, brokenness, frailty and lack
Fragile and lonesome, no more than a vacuum
I look to the left and see unanswered prayers
And off to the right, frustration is staring me down
Unfulfilled longings and promises pending
Heaps of offense and grudges aplenty
O, wretch that I am
Filthy and vile
Guilty, unrighteous, disgrace for a child of God
Crooked, nefarious, scandalous, treacherous
Wicked, insidious, two-faced hideous man
Saturated all throughout
Permeated, filled with doubt
O, Lord, turn away
Don’t poison your eyes
By looking at all of this wreckage inside
You won’t find much faith or belief worth your time
I’m bitter, offended, confused, and upset
You asked for my heart, and here’s what you get
I’ve poured out my everything
Nothing to hide
Like water that runs til the river is dry
For a moment
I sit in the silent nothing
All laid bare
Naked and scared of this wilderness
But suddenly, I’m not the only one here
A whisper
A gentle noise
A tender, familiar, compassionate voice
“And I love you still” he says in a hush
In fact I am moved all the more with affection
Because of your painful, but honest confession
Your boldness to face the true revelation
Your bravery, accepting my invitation
To go lower
Dig deeper
Wait longer
Scream louder
Descending further
Extending your reach beyond just the surface
Why do you fear that I am against you
When hear I lay conquered
Undone
Struck down
Ravished by your courage to stand
in that dangerous, desolate, barren wasteland
I’m not waiting to meet you with sad disappointment
But with showers of mercy
And healing ointment
You think you’ve invited the wrath of the judge
But, O, you’ve ignited the white flame of love
The consuming fire
Relentless desire
Blazing with jealousy
Towering higher than the heavens
You see, a doctor must open his patient
To reach in his body and bring restoration
So I’ve opened your heart, wounded and bleeding
To reach deep inside and release my healing touch
I’ve opened the vault that was empty and dull
To fill it with treasures imperishable
Immeasurable
Undefiled
Never to fade away
O, how I have tricked you
You supposed yourself the bully
The enemy
The adversary of my goodness
But I have made you the victim of incomprehensible love
You awaited my hostility
But invited my proximity
For I am near to the brokenhearted
My son, there is no escape
There’s no way out
No other fate
Not even a fool’s hope that I could break
The shackles of desire wrapped around my wrists
Or that you could break away
Because I have never missed
A chance to pursue you
This is true intimacy
To offer a heart that is broken and bruised
But confident, knowing you won’t be refused
Abandoned
Excluded
Refuted
Denied
Or disowned
Rejected
Unaccepted or scorned
But tenderly held like a mother’s newborn
This is true intimacy
To lay it all out on the line
And not to be opposed or tried
By a jury, a judge, a court of condemnation
But to be accepted without accusation
To offer weakness and be rewarded with strength
True intimacy is not for the people
Who take their refuge in a steeple
Or anyone who hides behind
The facade of righteousness that blinds
The already deaf and lame
To the righteousness that has a name
Jesus
It is his righteousness that fans the flame
Of my desire for you
True intimacy is not for those
Who fear the wilderness that shows
Their absolute incapability
To produce their own humility
It is for those who have the courage
To mine the depths beyond the surface
Knowing that they’re sure to find
Horrors and disgusting kinds of secrets
That expose even more of their weakness
But one other thing they know
One truth that invites their slow descent
Into the depths of humanity
That there I wait with arms wide open
There they’ll find a blessed hope in me
So, no more hiding
No more running or confiding
In your clean untarnished spaces
Venture to the barren places
Warm embraces wait for you there
Pour out your heart like water before me
That I may drink deep of your love for me
Come with a broken heart
Come with a spirit crushed
Bruised
Shattered
Torn
And cracked
That you may bask in the sun of righteousness
And as you open up your heart
Let your ears be open too
To hear the voice like peals of thunder
Shouting, “My delight is in you!”

Take me away to be with you
Draw me away so I can run with you
We will fall in love like the first time
We will fall in love like the first time
There is no place I'd rather be
There is no place I'd rather be
There is no place I'd rather be
Than here with you now
I'm with you now, with you now
With you now, Jesus

Your love is deep
Your love is wide
Reaching from east to east across the sky
Your love is pure
Your love is strong
Holding the universe together
Your love is better than, better than
All the fleeting pleasure and treasures and wine
Of this world
Your love is near
Your love is with me
Never abandoning the one you call your own
Your love is sweet
Your love is hear to stay
Always embracing me with affection
Your love is better than wine
Your love is better than life itself
Your love is so much better
Your love is so much better
Your love is so much better, better

We come to give you the highest praises
We come to worship in heavenly places
Yahweh, we have come to give you thanks
We love your name
You are our portion
On you we wait
Our heart's desire is for more
More of you, more of you, more of you
More of you, more of you, more of you

Songs, hear the songs being sung
All around the throne
See his throne high above, lifted up
Your dwelling place, O God, is a wonder
Full of beauty
Wrapped in mercy
This is why we set our gaze on you
Praise is waiting for you
Incense rising to you
Glory all around your temple
Elders bowing low
Angels fall before you
Color dancing in the sky
Light, see the light, how it shines
All the rainbow beams, how it beams
As a jewel, like a diamond
God, your dwelling place is amazing

In your presence is fullness of joy
At your right hand are pleasures forevermore
We're gonna dance in the river
Streams of living water
Gonna stand in your fire
Burning with desire
Going up in the Spirit
Take us even higher
We want more, we want more, we want more, more, more
We want more, more, more of your presence
More, more, more of you, Jesus
More, more, more of your presence

I've tried to sacrifice, tried to earn my way
I've tried to pay a price that I wasn't meant to pay
What are you asking for
Why do you search inside me
What could I bring that you don't already have
Love is what I have to give
If you will take it
Though I know it's not much
I know you won't forsake it
God I give you my, God I give you my love
God I give you my, God I give you my love
It's like I never heard you say that I was free
It's like I have a fear that it's not enough to just be me
Is this what you're asking for
Is this why you search inside me
Is this what I bring that you don't already have
What you want is a love that's not manipulated
What you want is a heart that's not afraid to lay it all down
Cuz you laid it all down
Threw your crown on the ground when you found me
Wallowing in my blood
And you said, "Live, child"
You said, "Live, child"
You said to be in my blood live, live, live

You call me brother, you call me son
You tell me I'm your favorite one
To be with you is the place where I belong
You take my sorrow, take my shame
All my burdens, all of my pain
You turn my cry for help into a beautiful song
Jesus, Jesus, it is you
Always faithful, ever true
In you I find all my soul's delight
Jesus, Jesus, you're the one
Worthy of all my affection
There is none like you in all this world
All of my life I've been searching for you
Only to find that you've been searching too
And I can hardly imagine what treasures await
In knowing your passion and beholding your face

I arise and you are waiting there for me
I see your eyes anticipating what will be
Lord, you know that I'm learning to receive
All the gifts you give, and all of these good, good things
You hold back no good thing from me (4x)
Let me hear your voice, let me see your face
Let me run with you and never leave this place
Lord you know that I'm learning to believe
That you are good and you hold back no good thing
You keep every promise (4x)
You give good gifts to your little kids
And we'll never lack 'cuz you hold back no good thing

Father of all good things
Great is your love
All of your children sing
Your daughters and your sons
For all that you say and all that you do
We're falling more in love with you
Your love is like
You love is like
A waterfall of life
A waterfall of life
Jesus, the Morning Star
Faithful and true
Romance our fainting hearts
We long to be with you
Spirit that dwells within
Here to abide
Always we'll call you friend
Your presence is our life
Waterfall, waterfall of life
Waterfall, waterfall inside

The stars, embroidered in the sky
The moon, embellishing the night
The canvas of creation on parade
An everlasting encore of my ways
O but you, my love awaken my desire
The burning embers in my heart
Burst into a dance of fire
As time is ticking 'round the clock
As rain is feasting on the rocks
The flowers of the field grow ever pale
The beating heart of history shall fail
O but you, my dove, your beauty never fades
And I'm a prisoner at will
To be in such a sweet captivity
Lock me up and toss the key
I'm yours, and I'm sure
Of my ability to satisfy your longing to be loved
So dance with me through meadows painted white
Hold fast to me, and you will see that true love is true life

My heart swells with ambition
To run far from all other visions
I just want to sit in your temple and listen
O, Lord, even the sparrows
Have found more happiness where you are
Their song echoes my soul's melody
One day in your chambers
Is better than thousands in all other houses
One moment next to you
Is worth more than treasure and wealth beyond measure
Weeping valleys are made into
Cool springs, where travelers wade
O, Zion, you are this pilgrim's desire
I would rather be one
Who is home just being a son
As I grow up far from the reach of another
How could I ever go back
I'm where I belong, this is where I belong
I would not ever let go
Of this kind of love, this kind of love

Here I hold my desire
As it flickers and fades in the night
It's not much of a fire
But what I have I could never hide
I wanna burn for you
The way you burn for me
I wanna yearn for you
The way you yearn for me
Seven flames all aglow
O, this passion and zeal never end
Come alive in my soul
Overtake my affection, Lord
At your table I find
What this world never offered me
That my heart feels alive
As it beats to the rhythm you sing over me

This album is an acoustic prelude to the full-length explosion coming your way...someday...maybe...
I hope these songs can be fuel for the fire of churches, prayer rooms, worship leaders, etc. My zeal for the worship movement is consuming. May this album be a seed sown into the soil of the global House of Prayer - O that the nations would sing with gladness!
